Specialised support for eating disorders.
There is no single pathway to healing your relationship with food and your body. We understand that every journey is as unique as the individuals we support.
We’re committed to providing an inclusive, supportive space where we can work together to design care that feels right for you.
Tidal Health is a values led clinic - guided by compassion, curiosity, creativity, integrity, and a love of learning.
Tidal Health Clinic is proudly aligned with Health at Every Size (HAES) principles, offering care that is weight-inclusive and non-diet.
Our approach is delivered within recovery-oriented, person-centered, and trauma-informed frameworks.
Tidal Health Clinic was born in Newcastle, NSW. We acknowledge the Awabakal and Worimi people as the traditional custodians of the land where we work.
Caring for our health is a dynamic process, a journey shaped by the natural ebbs and flows of our lives.
Like the rhythm of the tide, progress and setbacks are simply part of the process.
Tidal Health is comfortable in meeting you wherever you are, on your journey - tailoring evidence-based practices with compassionate care and expertise.
Our goal is to provide a safe space where you feel guided and supported in fostering meaningful change that reflects what is important to you - every step of the way, at your own pace
Our Services
Individual Support
Navigating an eating disorder can be overwhelming and isolating, you don't have to face it alone. Tidal Health provides comprehensive and tailored support for overall well-being and sustainable recovery. We are committed to empowering individuals on their journey to achieving optimal health and balance.
Family Therapy
The therapists at Tidal Health Clinic have years of experience using Maudsley FBT to support families and their children. We are passionate about family approaches to treatment, given their effectiveness and ability to strengthen family relationships.
Our Mark, Tidal’s Story
Our brandmark was designed with intention and purpose - a visual story of what we stand for and the space we hope to hold for our clients.
The hand-drawn circle representing the cyclical nature of healing - a circle that is beautifully unique.
It also draws on the moon, a steady force behind the tides, guiding movement and change.
The waves within the mark represent the ebb and flow of recovery, honouring that the process is rarely linear and, more often, tidal.
Eating Disorders
Despite growing awareness efforts, misconceptions and a lack of understanding persist around eating disorders, leading to high levels of stigma - the most impactful barrier to care.
Anorexia Nervosa
Anorexia Nervosa involves restricted eating patterns leading to an individual's inability to maintain a weight considered normal and healthy. Individuals with Anorexia Nervosa hold a strong fear of gaining weight or becoming overweight, regardless of their current weight and physical appearance.
Binge Eating Disorder
Binge Eating Disorder is marked by consuming large amounts of food within short periods, without engaging in compensatory behaviours. Those dealing with binge eating often feel helpless during these episodes.
Other specified feeding and eating disorders (OSFED)
A person with Other Specified Feeding and Eating Disorders (OSFED) may present with many of the symptoms of other eating disorders, such as Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa or Binge Eating Disorder, but will not meet the full criteria for diagnosis of these disorders.
Bulimia Nervosa
Bulimia Nervosa is characterised by repeated episodes of binge eating, followed by compensatory behaviours, such as purging or excessive exercise. Individuals with Bulimia Nervosa often place excessive emphasis on their body shape or weight.
Disordered Eating
Disordered eating entails disturbed and unhealthy eating patterns, including restrictive dieting, compulsive eating, or skipping meals. These behaviours, particularly dieting, are common indicators of eating disorder development.
Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)
People with ARFID usually do not have weight and body image concerns that are often associated with other eating disorders like Anorexia Nervosa, but it is also possible for people to have several eating disorder diagnoses and, therefore, complex, differing symptoms and concerns.
"My journey with Steph has been lifechanging
For the first time in my life, I was not told to take pills or drink potions. We actually looked at things I did not realise were the actual issues until they were unlocked and healed. When I was ready, Steph guided me to get my eating on track to create a healthy mind, heart, and body. I tell everyone my story because it’s the first time I ever felt in control of my own destiny and health.”
